Many students who give their final A levels exams start applying for university in advance. If you have received your AS Level results already, you should start applying to local universities. Unfortunately, if your grades weren’t good, there’s a risk that you might not get an offer from the university of your choice. Or, the university might not enrol you in the program that you wanted. Most students throughout the UK use UCAS to apply for university. It’s an online portal that allows you to submit applications and review your offers.

What if you get your results for A2 and don’t get the offer you wanted? Does that mean that you will have to wait an entire year before applying again? Thankfully, that’s not the case. Clearing 2018 is the best option for you as it will help you apply for university and get in without much of a hassle. Ideally, Clearing is a recommended option for people who are applying either after the 30th of June, or those who didn’t receive any offers, or you failed to meet the conditions of the offers. Here are a few tips on how to apply through Clearing for university.

How Does Clearing Work?

Many universities are left with extra spaces in their courses, and Clearing is the process that they use for filling up these empty spaces. It works in the favour of the university, and it works in the favour of the student. You are likely to come across different courses that still have vacancies and can get in touch with the university or college directly. Keep in mind that the company is still going to evaluate your position before deciding whether to offer you a place or not.

If you have yet to apply, the first thing you need to do is make an account and browse through different courses that still have vacancies. You’ll get a Clearing number and a detailed guide on how to track your application. You can ask for advice from counsellors and UCAS will give you a detailed list of steps that you need to keep in mind when applying through Clearing.

Compare the Courses

More importantly, you can compare different courses and see which ones are available. Don’t just apply to any course for the sake of it; you should actually be interested and thinking about pursuing a career in the field if you go for that course. There are private counsellors that can guide you throughout and make it easy for you to compare your options. If you are interested in any course or any university, you can get in touch with them to discuss your options. The university will let you know if they are planning on taking more students. You can then add your Clearing choice in Track and then focus on them. Once you get an offer, you just have to pay your fees and you are good to go. These are just a few things that you should know about applying for Clearing.
